Head InstructorMarissa McHugh has a BFA in Theatre Performance, an MA in Drama, and a PhD in English (Canadian Theatre), and she has a wealth of teaching experience. She developed and led summer programming for a bilingual daycare; taught piano to elementary students; facilitated theatre workshops and classes for children, teenagers, and adults; taught high school and university drama, and directed various theatre productions. She has acted for film and theatre and has worked for an arts council. She is an advocate for arts education and is passionate about increasing students’ creativity and confidence. She is bilingual and Red Cross First Aid certified.

Assistant InstructorJamahll Charles is an energetic, fluently bilingual, first aid certified Carleton University student who is majoring in Child Studies with a minor in Social Work. He comes to the Percolator team with a wealth of experience working with children. He is a volunteer at Dr.F.J McDonald elementary school, works as a counsellor for Carleton University camps, and is employed as a coach for the Junior Ravens Football camp. He has developed and led camps for children with disabilities. He is a great storyteller and he loves to act and sing, especially when it helps bring out the best in children. He aims to become an elementary school teacher in Ottawa and to one day host his own kids show.

Assistant InstructorShayne Cowan-Cholette graduated from Bishop’s University with his Bachelor of Education and Theatre Honors. Throughout his Bishop’s career, Shayne was part of over a dozen professional and semi-professional musicals and productions and has training in clowning, mime, stage combat, Commedia Del’Arte, and set design. Shayne also had the opportunity to fully immerse himself into the world of improvisation where he placed 3rd in Canada at the Canadian Improv Games. In 2017, Shayne was asked to join a non-profit organization called Young Leaders World where he embarked on a journey to Shanghai China to speak to hundreds of international students about leadership, creativity, and personal growth and how it impacts the collective good. Shayne has many years of experience working with children of all ages. His most memorable experience was in Quebec City when he spent two months working with a Youth Theatre troop. In the future, Shayne aims to become an acting instructor and audition for feature films around the world.
